This Long March which lasted for an entire year and took them nearly 6000 miles to the other end of China resulted in the defeat of Chiang Kai-Shek's Kuomintang forces, the formation of the modern Communist cadres and the establishment of Mao Tse-Tung (Mao Zedong) as their leader.
