((Illustrated By Twelve Highly Finished Drawings in Oil.). "COMPLETE EDITION, CONTAINING THE FIRST AND SECOND PARTS, CAREFULLY COMPARED WITH THE ORIGINAL EDITION OF 1719." Only nine plates, plus illustrative (gold/gilted) title page present. Page block only, two free endpapers present at both front and rear, imperfect edges and creasing to front and rear, tears to front; frontipiece image ("Robinson Crusoe on the raft") loose and foxed, no foxing noticeable on image, only margins; illustrated title page (title ending "WRITTEN BY HIMSELF") remains very good with minor imperfections to margins only; main title page (title ending "OF YORK, MARINER.") slightly toned (as is every page of text) with few marks; two-sided (one leaf) preface, second side paginated "iv"; early pages from title page to page 2 bear negligible crease to top corner, similar to 5 & 7, page 11 also but a heavier crease, again at 22, 35, 46; 46 bears first occurrence of three spots in margins and 33x7mm (depth x width) stain at fore edge, the stain affecting the plate opposite (and reverse) and page 47 also, and additional stain appears at base corner of plate and following page, this plate (Robinson Crusoe brings in the first Kid.) has 25mm tear from fore edge, 8mm of which intrudes upon image; spots continue, diminishing, until page 56; page 52 creased at top corner; binding stretched between pages 64 and 65, several translucent blemishes over text on these two pages, 65 also creased at top corner; tiny mark over text on 70/71; next plate preceding page 75 (Robinson Crusoe discovers a large Cavern) bears nick at fore edge (margin only).remainder of book is comparable to that which I have described already*, with intermittent faint or sparse blemishing and creased fore edge corners; final dozen or so pages carry a slight bend, becoming a crease, down the fore edge commensurate with holding book carelessly when reading, or flicking through the pages backwards; *the penultimate page (of text) has lost the top fore edge corner, unfortunately losing a small fraction of the text from the top two lines of page 247 (the pagination is gone) and the top three lines of 248; 248/249 also bear coloured, faded, staining or soiling (not over text), which could be ink or blood, and 249, the last page of text, has several creases and a nick at the fore edge, continuing across the rear endpapers.. Poor .
