This is a Very Good Copy of this book rebound in plain green cloth with gilt title lettering to spine.Published in 1665 according to a report made to the King's most Excellent Majesty by the Company of Parish Clerks of London.A truly historical and fascinating work with one tape repair made to the fore-edge of the Title page.It's not easy to discern if this is an original publication or a later facsimile.The book begins with page 19 with signature 'D' at bottom of the page,so possibly missing earlier signatures and begins with The Bill for 20th Decemnber to the 27th december 1664.The work documents the week by week numbers and types of diseases and casualties buried in London.For example week one lists 7 fatal cases of Rickets,8 stillborn bearths,17 succumbing to death caused by 'Teeth',1 victim of Thrush,15 killed by Dropsie,64 by Consumption,1 executed,29 afflicted by fever,25 by the Flox and small pox,2 died of apoplexie,1 of Canker,3 died of stopping of the stomach,23 of simple old age,1 [person had the 'wind' and 231 died of gripping in the guts .. you see their was no Rennie in those days.There are many more examples of what now appear strange recordings of death,and the book goes through each week in largely the same format.At the end of this tomb contain the overall stats which number totqal burials to be 97,306,nearly 70,000 succumbing to the Plague.Their were a total of 9967 Christenings as well.Published by the parish Clerks of London of which they totalled some 97 within the walls of London.The overall contents have survived very well indeed with a little light browning to certain leaves etc.Their is one former owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.This scarce title acquired from an impressive private collection of works largely based on freemasonry,law and London history.Folio 11'' by 13.5'' Scarce and desirable work of London History with engraved title page headed 'Memento Mori' with Skull centered. Very Good/No Jacket.
