London: Printed for R. Faulder...E. Jeffrey....and J. Sewell..., 1793. FIRST EDITION. 2 volumes in 1. Folio, pp. [iv], 590; [iv], 218, recently rebound in quarter calf, morocco label, marbled boards. A very good copy. Beawes (fl. 1775 - 1795) is probably best-known (though hardly anything seems to be know about him) as the author of Lex Mercatoria Redivivia; or, A Complete Code of Commercial Law, first published in 1754 and often reprinted. Thomas Jefferson had a copy of that work in his library but apparently not a copy of this history of Spain and Portugal. Kress B.2451. Palau 26185.
