SCHUBERT ADOLPHE:: The Emperor Napoleon's March Across the Alps .
London , Brewer & Co. Hand dated 2/2/1884. With a magnificent sepia colour front cover portrait of Napoleon, within a frame, astride his white horse and climbing the Alps . At the head of the portrait the imperial eagle with two tricolour flags below it's open wings and at each corner the Imperial insignia N and the composer titles and though not signed, certainly originally a wonderful Brandard cover and printed by M&N Hanhart. The composer Adolphe Schubert who worked extensively for this publisher sadly remains obscure. The music publisher Leoni Lee went into partnership with Coxhead in 1845 until 1853 . Originally published by Leoni Lee & Coxhead (1845-53) and here reprinted by Brewers. Folio size with music. Trimmed across the top title and a small waterstain in that title neither overly affecting magnificent portrait and cover else Good.
