With a brown ornate lettered cover Albert Chevalier (1861-1923) was originally an actor who was considered to not only faithfully represent the cockney but wrote some of the great songs of the music hall in doing that. Usually he collaborated with Charles Ingle who was his manager and also his brother(real name Auguste Chevalier), however here Ingle composed the music of the song for him.
