With a monochrome portrait of the Louis Philippe Albert D'Orleans Comte de Paris ( heir to the French Throne) as young child by John Brandard and printed by M & N Hanhart. From a painting by Winterhalter. Dedicated to Louis Philippe, the King of the French. Sadly the composer remains obscure, although there is a short note on the bottom that indicates that he composed a number of popular Quadrilles & Waltzes for the publishers. The composer Sydney Nelson(1800-1862) entered into a songwriting partnership with Charles Jeffreys around 1840 and soon afterwards they began a music publishing business. By 1843, Nelson had decided to leave the publishing to Jeffreys whilst he toured America, Canada and Australia. Jeffreys went on to make a considerable success of the publishing. The superb monochrome illustrated front cover is by John Brandard (1812-1863) who specialised in Waltz,Polka covers and mainly ballet and opera covers. He worked extensively with Michael and Nicholas Hanhart to produce these opulent sheets. Folio size with music. Condition VG. Offered for EUR 34.00 = appr.
