Dedicated to the noted opera singer Carlotta Patti (1840-89) Italian born soprano who made her career debut in New York in 1861 and then toured Europe and North & South America before retiring to Paris She was said to have a remarkable range and this song was ideally suited to showing that range. Alexander Alabiev(1802-52) was a Russian composer who rather unsuccessfully tried to write popular opera and had more success writing over 100 songs of which the Nightingale was the most famous. Folio size with music. Condition VG.
