FIRST EDITION, Latin text, Amstelædami et Lipsiæ, apud Arksteum et Merkum, 1757. 4to, in 2 parts with separate pagination, 205 x 155 mm, 8 x 6 inches, title vignette, 25 full page engravings, 28 smaller engravings, all of weapons and warriors of Romans times, lances, spears, javelins, chariots and many of ancient coins showing these things, pages (4), 179, (2), 140, bound in full antique calf, rebacked to style with raised bands, gilt rules and gilt lettering, all edges speckled red, original endpapers retained. Covers slightly scuffed, corners slightly worn, endpapers slightly browned at edges, a few pages lightly age-browned, slight offsetting from some illustrations, otherwise a very good clean tight copy of a scarce book on ancient warfare and weapons.
