First U.K. edition, Thomas Ward and Co. 1834. 12mo, 145 x 92 mm, 5¾ x 3½ inches, recent red calf spine, gilt rules and titles, diamond grained brown cloth with title gilt on front in ornate gilt frame, all edges gilt, pages 201 plus 2 pages of adverts, 13 illustrations in first 26 page section entitled Costumes and Manners. Account for the 'Young People of Great Britain' of the Virginia Indians plus a collection of anecdotes which relate exclusively to the aborigines of North America. The preface stresses that the Indians are dwindling away: 'In another century, it is doubtful whether even a remnant of them will be found in the land, the whole of which they once called their own'. Corners slightly worn, new endpapers, 25 mm tear to edge of title page, neatly repaired. A very good copy of a scarce book. 1 location in NSTC.
