Title: The River Wey and Its Tributaries. Report on the Locks, Mills, Bridges, Sluices, Weirs, Etc., With Map.
Description: Surrey County Council, Kingston-upon-Thames, 1928. First Edition, Hardcover. Good/not applicable. A detailed report of 31 text pages and 18 photographic plates arranged over a further 5 pages. The survey was commissioned by the Land Drainage Sub Committee of the S. C. C. and gives an accurate picture of the physical state of the river/navigation, water levels, artificial and natural features, structural damage, etc etc. Clayton's conclusion, briefly, is that the river level is too high for drainage purposes and that it is probably impossible for the requirements of navigation, drainage, fisheries et al to be managed to the satisfaction of all parties concerned, Very large folding plan of the Wey ( in Surrey ) in rear pocket. Clean, tight, sound and presentable copy. Original printed boards with cloth spine. Boards with some soiling but still very presentable. Contents all near fine. An interesting publication which can justifiably be described as 'scarce'. Not in Baldwin's 'Canal Books', not in Surrey Libraries catalogue, no copies traced in the searchable UK libraries. Size: 4to. Quantity Available: 1. Category: History ; Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 0023374.
