Description: Davis, New York, 1863. First Edition, Hardcover. Fair. Small pamphlet published by the author at his Broadway, New York, practice. Davis was 'Optist to the principal Military and Civil hospitals in the United States. Practical artist; for many years practising in the principal opthalmic institutions in Europe.' His new improved artificial eyes are 'made from a spar only found in Connecticut'. Original printed wrappers. Text block foxed and browned but clearly legible throughout. Wrappers chipped at edges and soiled/stained. The whole bound into modern black library style cloth boards, gilt lettered, and thus securely preserved. No inscriptions other than the word 'Artificial' being inked out on the front wrapper and title page. Xii + 24 pages, illustrations. Size: 8vo.
