Title: Haworth Harvest. The Lives of the Brontes
Description: London England, J. M. Dent & Sons, 1969. First Edition, Binding: Cloth, Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7" - 9" Tall Octavo Hardcover Hardcover. First Edition. Haworth Harvest. The Lives of the Brontes. Previous owners name to inside cover. Slight foxing to edge. The author writes with an affectionate enthusiasm and understanding of her subject. Her tale unforlds vivily, freshly and effortlessly. Miss Morrision has researched and made discoveries, and she presents material that the writer of a more routine biography would find it difficult to come by. She adheres to the facts made evident from Charlotte's letters and the manuscripts left by Emily and Anne. Her description of the famous visit of Charlotte and Anne to London to see Smith, Elder, their publisher, to prove that Currer and Action Bell were two different people , is especially memorable. It will be recalled that the unscrupulous Mr. Newby had declatred that all the books were written by the same author. Miss Morrision's narrative method is also most effective in the passages where the Misses Bronte are viewed through the eyes of the villagers. Illustrated. 279 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. Academic and Scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Educational Reference Literature.).
