Title: Action Front!: A History of C Battery HAC in War and Peace
Description: London England, Leo Cooper, 1992. First Edition, Binding: Cloth, Near Fine/Very Good. 4to - over 9" - 12" Tall Quarto 0850522706 Signed by Author Hardback Hardback. First Edition. Action Front. Price clipped. Signed by the author on title page. This book is a rarity, not only because it is a history of a battery of Royal Horse Artillery, but also because it relates the story of a unit which was raised for war, fought hard in Tunisia and Italy in 1942-45 and - after it was disbanded for a brief period - was reincarnated to carry on its proud tradition in the peacetime Territorial Army. 'C' Battery was first paraded in May 1939 as a direct result of the doubling of the Territorial Army, and thus became a duplicate of 'A' Battery, Honourable Artillery Company, the oldest TA regiment in the British Army. This fascinating account describes the Battery's early bizarre and weaponless establishment and goes on to describe how it was turned into a ruthlessly efficient weapon of war. Illustrated. 147 pp. Plastic protective covering.
