The first purpose for which it is hoped it will be found useful is to assist accountants faced with the task of the installation of a system of cost accountng in a joinery works, while the second purpose for which it is written is that it may prove of assistance to directors and joinery works managers in demonstrating to them the need for and advantages of keeping a proper system of cost accounts in their particular works. The elementary principles of accountancy has been ignored. Neither is the subject matter an attempt to teach the accountant the subject of cost accounting with which he should already be thoroughly acquainted, but simply to assist him when applying the principles to the particular trade. Extraneos matter has been omitted and alternatives have been reduced to mimumum the author having only included what he has found by experience to be the most practical and most useful and, having dispensed with theory, claims that this book be regarded as a practical book for practical purposes and for this reason hopes that any apparent dogmatism may be forgiven.
