Description: Published by John Russell Smith, London, 1866-7. lxx, 1-501, 502-1038, 508 pages, black and white frontispieces to volumes 1 and 2, numerous black and white line illustrations throughout each volume, 2 fold out black and white plates and one tipped-in colour illustration in volume 1, 12 gilt chromo-lithograph plates at rear of volume 2, includes a hand-list of all the Old-Northern words at the rear of volume three, along with an index. First Edition, books are ex-private-library with small, unobtrusive inked stamp on end-papers, occuring once on the title page of volume 3, a little rubbing to edges, light scuff marks to boards of volume 2, slight fading to top of volume 3 front board, some foxing to end papers, binding tight, all books complete, inside clean and bright, in very good condition, full brown and red leather, five raised bands on spine, gilt title on spine, 42 x 30 cm, Hardback.
