Life, to Christopher Green, was a game, was fun, and he cheerfully accepted John Harrison's invitation to stay at his home for a few days. John had gone to Cambridge a year before, glowing with academic and sporting honours, and leaving behind him scores of admirers, among them Christopher, with whom he had had a special relationship which Christopher now preferred to forget. The visit was not a success. From the moment they met until they said goodbye for the last time Christopher was aware that their friendship had ended.
