HMSO for the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments England, [1939] Roy. 4to., First Edition, with a frontispiece, title in red and black, with many hundreds of plates and maps (many folding), and a large folding map in pocket at end; original series binding of decorative red cloth gilt extra, gilt back, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter very lightly browned and soiled. Volumes of this splendid series were produced in two bindings, the relatively common grey cloth and the much less common red cloth (as here). This original edition is difficult to find in this condition, especially in the dustwrapper. Cordeaux & Merry, 291.
