Faber & Gwyer, [1928] 8vo., First Edition, on laid paper, some light offsetting to free endpapers only; original cloth, gilt back, yellow top, uncut, backstrip very lightly faded (but all gilt entirely legible) else a remarkably good, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter with some minor soiling and very lightly frayed and creased at extremities. Sassoon's first published work in prose and a classic of the genre. The author's name was not printed until the second issue of the second impression. This is the so-called 'second issue' with 'A' on blank leaf preceding half-title, though Keynes states that these 'typographical irregularities have no significance whatever, since they were both printed and published at the same time'.
