Sotheby Wilkinson & Hodge, 1903 8vo., First Edition, with a coloured frontispiece and 13 fine plates of facsimiles (4 folding); original printed wrappers, sewed as issued, covers lightly frayed and age-marked, backstrip a little scuffed and worn else a good, clean copy. The catalogue lists 12 lots, including documents signed by Essex, Herbert (one of the 'incomparable pair of brethren' to whom the 1623 Folio was dedicated), Leicester and Southampton; a casket made from the wood of the mulberry tree planted by Shakespeare; Sharp's wooden portrait; the 'unknown portrait' described in Walford's 'Antiquarian', Farmer's annotated copy of Mottley's 'Dramatic Authors' , a set of the Works from the libraries of Thomas Gray, Malone and Heber, and finally a unique copy of a totally unknown issue of the fourth Folio. Extremely scarce.
