Originally published in parts in 1799, with the first edition in book form appearing in 1800. This edition contains a very interesting account of the second missionary voyage to the South Pacific, and of the capture of the ship Duff by Le Grand Buonaparte off Cape Frio in 1799. The author was one of the missionaries, and relates the various hardships endured as well as providing a description of Rio de la Plata and its people. This second edition also includes an appendix of the author's tour of Northern Ireland in the summer of 1800.
