Robson Belford, with scratched armorial bookplate with the name erased, front f.e.p. to vol. 1. affixed at hinge, contemporary half calf with marbled boards, some wear to boards and corners, upper joint cracked to vol. 2 though firm, gilt ruling and gilt lettering to spines, sl. rubbed. ¶ Thomas Bewick (1753–1828) English wood-engraver and natural history author. Roscoe 31c; Roscoe 32c. 349 descriptions of birds. His magnum opus which is admired today mainly for its wood engravings, especially the small, sharply observed, and often humorous vignette tail-pieces. The forerunner of all modern field guides.
