Printed for John Wylie & Co by R Chapman, Glasgow, 1818, 1st edition thus. Disbound, VG. 109pp, slight discolouration to some of the paper, otherwise a good copy. The book has been disbound from Volume II of Wylie's 'Miscellanea Scotica'. Disbound , no dustjacket. ΒΆ Biography of James Sharp [ 1618 - 1679 ] who became Archbishop of St Andrews in 1661. Originally a staunch Presbyterian & Covenanter who, upon the Restoration of Charles II turned against all he had formerly stood for & was Concecrated Primate of all Scotland. Soon after his consecration he began a policy of repression against the Covenantors & was assassinated in 1679. Even today is is seen as a Scotish traitor. The publication date of 1678 on the title is erroneous, the original text from which this edition is taken having been printed in 1719.
