Full leather contemporary binding.Good /No Jacket.This is the smaller, octavo, edition published sin the same year as the folio edition by the Clarendon Press.Full leather heavily worn contemporary binding, the front board to vol.1 detached, both volumes with reading creases to spines.Vol.1: (4), vi, (1), 1-264, (10) pp. owner's dated signature on ffep; vol.2: (1), 539 pp. bookplate on front pastedown, owner's dated signature on ffep. front hinge holding by threads only, and a line of weakness between pp.208 and 209; the text blocks are otherwise sound, though slack.The books in question part of a library that was donated to the library of Hoylake Urban District Council, and housed in a special collections room at West Kirby Branch Library known as the Elias Library.However, after the Library transferred to Wirral council in 1974 the room was redesignated as a staff room, and the library dispersed.The family of the original owner, E.A.Elias of West Kirby, were permitted to reclaim the originally donated books, and the bookplate records this fact.
