He persisted in trying to enter a religious order, finally founding one to look after the dying and plague victims. He had to struggle against his hot nature, infirmities, lack of education and rough army experiences which included war against the Turks to become a compassionate and pious founder of his own religious order ministering to the sick. After his death miracles were reported in his name and he was canonized in 1746. Offered for GBP 160.00 = appr.
