Text mostly in Latin but some Greek. Includes at the end Conti's long poem De Venatione (The Hunt). *This is one of the largest collection of mythological tales of its time and was the standard reference work for Renaissance knowledge on the subject in Europe. Conti brought together Egyptian and other fables as well as the standard classical. He is often cited as the precursor of Symbolism in the study of the history of comparative religion. This edition includes the triple index of deeds, places and plants of animals associated with the gods and the added disseration by the French naturalist Geoffroy Linocier on the Muses. Neat tight copy.
