There are about 3 small corner losses all less than even half the extant margins, some variable old damp marking and staining but never obscurative and paper is strong and supple with sharp edges. There is a faded name on title, repeated to blank area of last leaf. Parts of an old legal manuscript used as endpapers. The table has an old tear nearly 3/4 of the way across with old repair to the blank back, and is also slightly cropped at one corner with loss of last few letters of three lines. A marginal short worm track in 10 leaves and a marginal burn[?} to last 4 leaves including final blank but none of these affect any text. A 1714 name on back of final blank & crossed out names on added endpapers. *Heylyn deals first with Spain, then France, Italy, Belgium, Germany including Austria and Switzerland. There are good sections on Greece and the islands of the Mediterranean. Asia includes Palestine, Persia and India, Egypt and the Barbary Coast, China gets about 6 pages, Japan even less with most of the "oriental islands" [Java, Philippines etc] even less accurately described. America, North and South, are also covered - a fascinating glimpse of the sort of information (or lack thereof) that the pilgrim fathers had at their disposal (see Sabin, STC 13281).
