Hughes says that his work “the most of it, some time since, was taken, with many other Observations, in travelling the Woods, and other parts (when I had leisure at odd times to go on shore, being then belonging to one of his Majesties Ships of War) especially in that praise worthy Island of Jamaica”. The last noted copy for sale was item 114 in Maggs Catalogue 1327 (2002), which states that during the last fifty years only one imperfect copy has appeared in auction records. Our copy is offered in its original binding, which needs careful repair.
