Folio new glace calf, faux raised bands, contrasting gilt label & gilt date 1570 (only) to spine (tips slightly rubbed) [20]+408pp +[24pp (=22pp of index and 23&4 being called for blank at end) [32]+383pp (recte 391 as 366-373 appear twice) +(1)+40pp + (50) lacking the last blank. The Swiss titlepage has two corners restored where marginal paper has been torn away but no print is affected and the gutter has some restoration, either partial rehinging or repair, there is also a stamp 1840 with an inked 7 following the ?date. Two pages in the first title are misnumbered and F6 is torn with small marginal loss (1cm) not touching text or side notes. This work was edited by Nicolas des Gallars, who was active c.1520-ca.1580. It has parallel Greek/Latin text in double columns to Part 1 which is Epiphanius, Bishop of Constantia in Cyprus's "Panarion". The Parisian text has a large 5-partite printer's mark to the title of a stork carrying another stork over a city while feeding it. The surrounding roundelles are of classical or biblical scenes. It is edited by Francois Feuardent (or Feu-ardent) and has a final Schola by Jacques de Billy (1535-1581). There is a life of Saint Irenaeus and a dedication to Cardinal Carlo Borbonio at the beginning of the volume (Graesse III/429). All pages, except two as noted, are in nice condition with very light occasional foxing/tanning. An old leaf of manuscript notes is bound in at p357 of the first volume, both have nice decorative initials and head- and tail-pieces, side notes.
