Volume 1 (of 3) octavo cloth spined boards with original printed paper label (rebacked with damaged label laid on) [ii] +400pp (recte 406pp) text ends on 358 with "End of first volume" there follows 1 blank leaf then pp355 which is a repeat and 356 which begins as a repeat but with a new second paragraph continuing to most of p 357 about the riots in the North-Riding at the bottom of this page, text then continues until p 360 with "The END of the first volume" followed by the index. *This volume deals with the city and surroundings history up to 1768 and contains nearly 80% of the total number of plates for the work which the title page gives as 22.
