Full page colored titlepage + 37 plates with two lines above the lively engravings and one below in doggerel verse. This is the publisher's colored edition (the spines of which are gilt to code color copies). There is a fair amount of fingering/spotting etc. but the torn plate 4 is neatly sewn which can be easily removed and repaired on the blank side, No.34 has brown color over part of one figure and some black smudges. Traces of pencilling on two or three blank backs of pages & end papers, partly erased ownership inscription Miss Freda Austin Tuesday 13th. On back of No.1. The watermarks on this copy are only partially visible p23 and 32 seem to consist of letters except for p 31 which has 1?18 where ?=unreadble number but probably 1818. Although graded it as Fair, in respect of a child's book for age and usage it is in Good condition (see Osborne 162, Moon 151, Gumuchian 1818). Offered for GBP 125.00 = appr.
